What is it?

Course Visual Inspections are industry-accredited visual assessments and the survey is designed to collect critical information on the condition of your paved infrastructure assets, which in turn can be utilised for effective and proactive asset management. Through use of a dedicated fleet of vehicles, UKPMS accredited data collection software, and through the dedication of our team of UKPMS accredited CVI inspectors, we can deliver CVI nationwide in line with prevailing industry standards. Common defects assessed and recorded include wearing course and surface deterioration, cracking, rutting, and edge deterioration, and many more.

CVI was developed by industry asset management experts and the survey is a highly cost-effective, rapid, network level assessment method.

Benefits and Versatility

  • Rapid, network level assessment of paved infrastructure assets
  • Highly-cost effective inspection method
  • Safe survey procedure with minimal disruption to road users
  • Industry-accredited and auditable data trail, allowing for client scrutiny
  • Standard and Enhanced CVI variants available
  • Defect data provided to support maintenance scheme selection and treatment identification
  • Utilises pavement engineering expertise in condition assessment

Why do it?

CVI data has a variety of applications to support Asset Managers and Highways Engineers. The defect data collated can be utilised to drive maintenance scheme identification and prioritisation, support condition analysis and mapping, inform network-level performance monitoring, and the data is also utilised in forward projection modelling of surface and structural condition. With defect data collated as opposed to summarised condition bandings, the data is also highly auditable.
