Innovation in highway materials can revolutionise infrastructure design and asset management!

That’s why we are working in collaboration with Highways England, the University of Manchester, and the Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre (GEIC) on a world-first project to understand how Graphene can be utilised to strengthen and prolong the lifespan of key materials and assets including bitumen, asphalt, steel safety barriers, and road markings. Leading the project on behalf of PTS, Director Peter Wallace notes:

“It’s a privilege to be involved in this collaboration with Highways England and the Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre (GEIC).

Lab results from initial mix designs have all shown an increase in stiffness where graphene has been included. Full scale site trials are planned for August so watch this space.

This has the potential to be a real game changer in terms of the design, construction, and durability of our roads of the future.”
